Pithy Yet Practical Advice, Missing Pet Searches, Tea and Sympathy, Animal Training and Wrangling, Inspirational and Motivational Speaking--oh, wait--the services for which we charge....

Generally speaking, any alteration to a book--including repairs--will decrease the book's monetary value. This is true of many antiques and collectibles. Having said that, professional stabilizations may prevent certain types of damage from worsening, and repairs on books whose value is more sentimental than financial may help preserve it for future generations.
Our store is not equipped to perform complete rebinding, but we offer minor repair and cleaning on a case-by-case basis. All materials used are book-friendly (many regular tapes and glues will actually speed up paper's deterioration).
Prices range from 10.00 up to 35.00 depending on the nature of the repairs needed. Estimates can only be given after an in-person examination of the book.

Curious about that box of books you found in the attic? Wondering how much that set of reference books is worth? Before searching further, we suggest reading this article on book values, and you will learn why we at the Lion are known as "The Dashers of Dreams."
If you would still like for an expert opinion on the value of your book or collection, may we suggest one of the following two options: While we are not at this time offering a formal appraisal service, we will be happy to recommend an associate who works with your genre of collecting. Please be advised, though, that most official appraisals start around 100-150 per hour, with no guarantee that your book is worth even the initial cost of the service.
The second option is our Shootin' From the Hip Estimate. This is exactly as the name implies...an educated opinion only, and not a formal appraisal. Having said that, we have found that this meets the needs of most clients interested in learning a "guesstimate" of the book's worth without the large financial commitment of formal appraising.
We provide these estimates for 5.00 per book for up to 10 books. For larger collections, we charge 25.00 per hour of research and labor. Again, these estimates are not formal appraisals, just "best guess" opinions; however, we humbly feel our best guess is usually pretty accurate in an extremely inexact science. Our estimates are formed utilizing current market trends and values, prior experience, and bibliographic research for proper edition identification, as well as the intangible "eye" that comes after handling and appraising the thousands of books in our store inventory.
This service is offered only in-store; for further information or questions please feel free to call or email us.
